More Details:

Sex trafficking is an evil crime—a crime of taking innocent victims, usually young girls, and forcing them to engage in commercial sex acts against their will.

Are you aware that this form of human bondage is one of the fastest growing crimes in the world or that it exists here in the Hub City? What a horrible thought! Sadly, these statistics are true. In 2016, Voice of Hope reported 55 human trafficking victims in Lubbock, with 24% being children.

Help us put up a strong fight against it.

Running2Rescue (R2R) is a race or a walk—you choose! It’s the event where our community stands up for justice on behalf of those whose voice has been taken. As this is the sixth year of operation, you may have heard of it by now.

Will you help us by joining our cause this year?

This year’s race is May 6, 2017 at Mackenzie Park. Last year, this 10K, 5K, and one-mile Family Fun Run hosted 1,500 participants and raised over $121,000 in one day for the cause! We’re excited and ready to raise double that amount this year!

All proceeds benefit the OneVo!ceHome (OVH), a nonprofit working to build a shelter in West Texas that will rescue and restore underage girls saved from sex trafficking.  Before OVH can apply and receive victim services grant funding to offset operational costs, the organization must show two years of established operations at the shelter.  Being proactive, that’s where R2R comes in – the approximate operational costs for each girl, per year, will be $64,000.  Initially, we are planning to reach ten girls. The funds raised will go toward the $640,000 needed per year.  An aggressive search for an established property for the shelter is underway and we plan to apply for bricks & mortar funding in the 2017 grant cycle.
